COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

Mara North Conservancy has a policy that it employs the local population and procures locally where possible. This is to contribute towards the socio-economic development of local communities. Mara North Conservancy is committed to promote sound working conditions in accordance with the Kenyan Working Law of October 2007.

Mara North Conservancy promotes gender equality and equity amongst the camp staff. Women and men are therefore given the same employment conditions and salary is paid in accordance to qualifications. Mara North Conservancy gives first priority for employment to local landowners. Currently MNC employs over 600 community members through member camps, conservancy management, community liaisons, ranger positions, infrastructure and maintenance positions. This number will increase as the conservancy grows adding additional employee positions.

Mara North Conservancy will directly or indirectly support the establishment of various commercial enterprises to diversify and generate income streams in and around the Mara. These enterprises will be directly linked to the activities of the conservancy in order to highlight to communities the benefits that can accrue from wildlife conservation.
